2 months

Yesterday marked the two month mark until my wedding for those of us counting down!!

59 days until my wedding and 47 days until I'm in warm Fiji.  Yay!!

Below are some pictures that Ant and his family took at the venue so that we can imagine the whole set up better;

Looks great!  I'll feel very sorry for those seated at the back though; from the last pic I can barely what's going on at the front!

The majority of the gang have received their invites as well so that makes it feel more real.

Pauline still hasn't provided me with an address so I've decided an e-invite will have to do!

Invites half posted

I've finally gotten off my ass and have written out my invitations.  The NZ ones went out last week in my office stationery.  Why?  Because it's free postage that way obviously!  Not that 4 invites would have costed me much monies.  But why buy an envelope and stamps when you can get it for free?

They're in big A4 envelopes with my work logo on the corner.  Inside is an A4 cardboard backing that we use when we post out Certificates to students.  What I forgot to do was stamp 'do not bend, Certificate only' on it!!

The Aust invites will perhaps be posted today.  It depends on how nice my workmates feel like being in terms of dropping it into the red post box on his way to the Station.  I'm the boss of him so he'll do it :)

Envelopes are naturally courtesy of my work (again) they are in same-day envelopes so really I can post it on Friday even and it's still good!

But I know everyone is keen to see them so I will aim for them to be posted today :o)

Dress? Check

I have my dress!!

On Thursday 14th I left work early to go to Fairytales Bridal on Puckle Street to pick up the dress.

Thankfully the talkative women weren't around; just two young girls.  I got a lovely girl who was more enthusiastic than I was about the dress.

The hem of the dress has been shortened but it still drags on the floor.  It'll be a headache come time when we're navigating through 50 tables on a dodgy floor that will probably be filthy.

I managed to take the dress home on the tram easily enough with it folded over my arm.  Luckily it came in a suit bag so that made it easier.

About 4 hours after I'd gotten home, I noticed there were two missed calls and a voicemail on my mobile.  It was the lady from Fairytales saying I hadn't paid for my alterations!

When I left with the dress the girl at the counter had just picked up a phone call, so another girl came to help.  I told her I had already paid for the dress so she said "ok, just sign the receipt to confirm you've picked up the dress and that's it." So I signed and walked out of there with the dress.

When I looked through my receipts after the voicemail, I realized they were right; I hadn't paid for the $320 alterations yet.  So I rang them the next day from work and gave them my credit card details over the phone.

What a great story - how I almost got away with not paying for alterations.

Only to be topped by the fact that I forgot to wear nice undies - although amazingly I remembered specifically to wear a strapless bra - so I was in my daggies while the salesgirl dressed me.

Checklist: 2 - 3 months

We are progressing quite well according to the 3 - 2 month checklist.  Yes, I know I say this for every checklist that I've ticked off so far!

The only thing Ant and I can't decide on is the song for our first waltz.  He nominated some weird rnb mix and I suggested the very beautiful song 'Lucky' made popular from Glee.

It was sung by Quinn and Sam in the remix

The original version was sung by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat

Both are equally good and sums up our long distance relationship.  I must try harder to ensure it will be the song we dance to.  Dance classes will be tricky because I'm only going to be in Fiji 2 weeks before the wedding.  2 weeks can sound like a lot, but not when there are sure to be other last minute things that will require our attention.  And I'm a slow learner.'

I don't want to be like Aunty Lily at her wedding where she was obviously concentrating more on remembering the right steps than actually enjoying the dance.

I think Ant mentioned he had hired Ken Jenson or somebody's band to play for an exorbitant amount of money for the remainder of the night.  We'll need to discuss their song list too.

if I don't have time to sit down and eat my 9 course dinner, I sure as hell do not have time to dance!

Invites and Flowergirl

My invites have arrived in Australia!

Yes I know I said they arrived about 3 weeks ago but that was to Fiji.  Ant packed me about 30 which I received today after 6 working days.  Postage via registered mail was quite pricey - it cost fj$50.  Crazy.

I was going through my credit card statement and realized my invites cost not au$600, but au$900.  And I thought I'd made such a good deal too!

Things are coming along.  I've bought my flower girl's dress and my bridesmaid has bought hers too.

Becky's dress will be a classic flower girl style dress.  But it still has that unique factor because the back is half zip and half lace up.  It has two layers at the hem with three layers in total; the middle layer is a petticoat which creates a lovely full skirt.

Makes me wish my wedding dress had a petticoat too.  Kind'a.

This dress was a bargain buy because of EOFYS - au$50 marked down from au$100.  And it was from Puckle Street's Soda Kids whose logo is 'Kids dressed as kids' which I think is a good sentiment.

Skin Care

Yesterday I went to the Doctor and asked for a prescription for the pill.

I've left it kind of late to start worrying about my skin.  Usually it's good because of the cold.  But the Fiji humidity will definitely make me break out!

Anyway the pill is bloody expensive!  Yasmin is the one that can assist with acne - a pack of 3 cards (3 months supply) cost $83! How crazy is that!  For that price, it had better heal all my blemishes!

While at the Doctor's I also asked him what product he would recommend for my skin.  He looked at me and replied, 'only Roaccutane will cure your acne.'

Everyone I've spoken to has recommended me against taking it because the side effects are far too many.  Side effects include a dry anus - I read this on a website.  Depression is also a major side effect with many users saying they had suicidal thoughts.

The overwhelming consensus is that the end result will be perfect skin!  One blogger even went as far to say if she hadn't committed suicide from the roaccutane, she would have done it because of the shame of really bad skin.

That made me laugh.
